About Yarra Valley Spring Water
The Yarra Valley Spring Water story began in 1990 when the Paterson family was running their Billa Billa homestead, which takes its name from the aboriginal word for water - Billa. The springs were always a feature of the property and everyone knew there might be something special underground but nothing much was done until one day when the health inspectors visited.
The Patersons were asked how they purified or filtered the water because it was the cleanest ever tested by the Health Department. The family had to admit it that it flowed naturally into the dam without any filtration or purification. The authorities, indeed everyone else had only one suggestion, bottle it!
The source of the spring was discovered and now a decade later, the Patersons have earned the right to bottle and sell Yarra Valley Spring Water from their property.
The earth's natural hydraulic pressure forces the water through layers of rock and sand to 650 metres above sea level. This is where, one to two metres below the surface the water is collected and gravity fed to the bottling plant.
The family's unique method for extracting the water is a highly guarded secret and is the key to the waters purity, which is naturally bacteria free.
Yarra Valley Spring Water is available in still or sparkling. Glass bottles range from 300ml to 750 ml, and PET (plastic) bottles from 350ml to 1.25 litres. Products have just begun being distributed across Australia. |
